Obituary of Frank Jefferson Jr.
Frank M. Jefferson, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by family at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleborough, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hyannis, he was the son of the late Alzara & Frank Jefferson, Sr.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Irene E. (Merrill) Jefferson; his son, Mark; and two sisters, Betty and Eliza.
Frank was a veteran and served six years in the National Guard. He worked as a foreman at Alden Shoe in Middleborough for 40 years. He was a devoted member of the South Middleborough Grange for 65 years and held several offices, most noteworthy, the Master. He was honored to serve as a chairman in the annual agricultural fair and march as a Deputy of the Massachusetts State Grange. Frank’s hobbies included traveling, bingo, gardening, storytelling, and he was an avid scratch-ticket enthusiast.
Most of all, Frank loved his family. Survivors include his daughter Shawn Gaudette & her husband Thomas of Middleborough, his daughter Eliza Stuart & her husband Milo of Middleborough and his daughter Sandra Jefferson of Carver. He leaves behind his three granddaughters, Tara, Ashley and Angela Stuart and two great-grandsons, Noah Stuart and Julian Atwood.
Visiting hours will be held at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 PM, with a Grange service starting at 6:30 PM.
Funeral services at the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 10:00 AM.
Interment services will follow at the South Middleborough Cemetery, Wareham Street, Middleborough.
