Obituary of William Albert Tower, Sr.
William "Bill" Albert Tower, Sr., age 88, formerly of Middleborough, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Don Orione Home in East Boston.
William was born on February 19, 1931, in Boston. He was the son of the late Harold Earl Tower and Harriet Elizabeth (Nolan) Tower.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Sarmiento) Tower and former husband of the late Beverly May (Conant) Tower.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, 1950-1953; serving in the 98th Engineer Aerial Photo Repro Company. William received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
After proudly serving his country, Bill worked at different organizations holding a variety of positions until his retirement including; an auto mechanic, a carpenter, drove a Zamboni at a local ice-skating rank, foreman in a rubber factory, he was a night watchman, and held maintenance/janitorial positions at a few nursing home facilities in Florida and Boston.
He was a quiet gentleman with a sense of humor; a prankster who enjoyed making people laugh. Bill was a kind and considerate man who was beloved by everyone. He will remain in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
William loved his family and enjoyed walking, reading, music, dancing and traveling. Through his 88 years, he lived in Boston, Middleborough, Lakeville, Taunton and Florida.
Bill is survived by his children, William Tower, Jr. & his wife Valerie, Robin (Tower) Alvarez & her husband Stephen, Tracy (Tower) Holscher & her husband William and Mark Tower & his companion Sue Carrigan; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; his sister Edith V. (Tower) Dougherty; his sisters-in-law Margery (Pringle) Tower and Gloria Sarmiento. He is predeceased by his siblings, John William Tower, Harold Earl Tower, Jr., Harriet Elizabeth (Tower) Poirier, Evelyn Louise (Tower) O’Brien, Clara Rose (Tower) Holmes, John Nolan Tower, Dorothy Mae (Tower) DeMoranville, Ellen Prentice (Tower) Davidson and Alice Lorraine (Tower) Schuster.

Family and friends are invited to the Graveside Services with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Connery Avenue, Bourne, on Monday, April 15, 2019, at 1:45 PM.
