Obituary of James E. Phillips

James "Jim" E. Phillips, age 89, of Carver, formerly of Middleborough, died suddenly, on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.

Born in Lakeville, he grew up in Middleborough and was the son of the late Edward & Irene (Wambolt) Phillips.  During his lifetime, Jim worked for Nemasket Transportation, Nichols Trucking and Bryne Sand & Gravel for many years.  In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking.

Jim was the beloved husband of Claire (Doiron) Phillips and the late Wilhemina (Dupont) Phillips; devoted father of Ronald Phillips & his wife Diane of Florida, Brenda Christiansen & her husband Rick of Assonet, Jim S. Phillips & his wife Linda of Plymouth, Deborah Powers of Plainville; step-father of Thomas Ingle & his husband Lee of New York, Joseph Ingle & his late wife Molly of South Carolina, Stephen Ingle & his wife Linda of Hanover, Cecile Ingle & her husband Richard of Florida and Carole Ingle of Bridgewater; loving grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 18; dear brother of the late Frances Abram, Genevieve Filtz and Leona Smith.  He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to his visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, October 10, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 PM.

All may attend the funeral service in the Ashley Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Friday, October 11, 2019, at 10:00 AM.

Interment services with military honors will follow at the Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Plymouth Street, Middleborough.
