Obituary of Irene B. Drolette

Irene B. "Gram" (Stanton) Drolette, age 88, of Hanson, formerly of Bourne and Belmont, died peacefully, on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Seasons Hospice in Milton.

Born in Boston, Irene was the daughter of the late Walter E. & Evelyn E. (Forest) Stanton.  She grew up in Dorchester and Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School, Class of 1948, where she met Les, her future husband.  After graduation, Irene worked at Harvard Business School in Cambridge.  She married Les in 1950, raised her family and worked at various restaurants in Lexington, Bourne and Wareham for over 30 years.  Irene enjoyed her annual vacations to Florida and numerous cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii.  She looked forward to completing the daily crossword puzzle, enjoyed taking walks especially along the Cape Cod Canal, gardening, cooking, dancing and listening to music.  Irene was a quiet, gentle, loving lady, and was devoted to her family.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. We will miss her BIG time!

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. "Les" Drolette, Sr.; loving Mom of Deborah Maier & her husband Carl of Indiana, June Drolette of Cataumet, Karen LaPointe of Bourne, Joseph "Dutch" Drolette, Jr. of East Falmouth, Walter Drolette of Bourne, Barbara Medeiros of Georgia and John Drolette & his wife Evelyn of Halifax; loving Gram of Sandra, David, Michael, Brenda, Michelle, Jason, Jacqueline, Joseph, Jodie, Thomas, Morgan, Craig and Erica; great-grandmother of 20; cherished sister-in-law of James & Edith Drolette of Burlington; dear sister of the late Harry Stanton, Evelyn Hucksam, John Stanton, Ruth McAdams, Arthur Stanton and Everett Stanton. Irene is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Irene's family sends their sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the staff and volunteers at the Hanson Senior Center Supportive Day Program for all of the love and kindness extended to Irene over the years.
