Richard "DICK" J. Vanston, Jr., age 65, of Middleborough, formerly of Stoughton, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home.
Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Pauline (Kelley) & Richard Joseph Vanston, Sr.. Dick grew up in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School. For 44 years, he was a Professional Truck Driver for various companies across the country. Dick owned and operated his own trucking company for seven years. He recently retired from Nichols Trucking located in Middleborough. Dick was a smart man, an inventor; he created the FUEL NOZZLE STRAP, a device which assists in the "hands-free" refueling of a truck. In his spare time, his hobbies included working with woodcrafts, making benches and bookcases. Dick loved animals and his greatest joy was being an "UMPA".
Dick was the beloved husband of Sherri (Tate) Vanston; loving brother of Minna VanStone of Quincy, Fred Vanston & his wife Lisa of Stoughton and Patricia "Pat" Vanston of Milton; dear uncle of Fred & Nicole, Jason & his wife Chrissy and great-uncle of Dylan and Casey. He is also survived by Michael Tate & his wife Andrea of Middleborough, Andrea Johnson & Mike Forfa and their daughter Averi of North Adams and Robert Johnson & Paige of Missouri.
Family and Friends are invited to visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, from 3:00-6:00 PM.
Funeral and Interment Services will be private.
