James "JAY" Wilmot, age 70, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Middleborough, he was the son of the late Richard & Myra (Thomas) Wilmot. Jay grew up in Middleborough, attended public schools, graduated high school from Tabor Academy as well as earning his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University in Boston. For years, he was a respected self-employed Commercial Painting Contractor.
Jay enjoyed skiing in Vermont, canoeing on the Nemasket River, playing tennis, going to the beach, attending Emily’s horse shows, Rich’s BMX races and hockey games. He also enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music of all genres and attending live concerts. Jay particularly enjoyed “unofficial memberships” at clubs and resorts wherever he traveled.
Jay was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Cassidy) Wilmot; loving father of Emily Wilmot of Middleborough and Richard Wilmot of Middleborough; dear brother of Rebecca Geyer of Middleborough, Susan Pennini & her husband John of Middleborough and Dawn Michael & her husband David of Rochester; adored uncle of many nieces and nephews; dear brother-in-law of Francis Cassidy of Medway, Joanne Cassidy of South Yarmouth, Eileen Yost & her husband Jeff of Medway, John Cassidy & his wife Linda of Medway, Thomas Cassidy of Medway, James Cassidy & his wife Donna of Medway, David Cassidy & his wife Carol of Medway and Richard Cassidy of Medway.
Funeral and interment services will be private.
A Celebration of Jay's life will be held at a later date.
